Kohl’s Brookfield: Everything for Your Little Home
Birthplace to the mother of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Caroline Ingalls, Brookfield, Wisconsin is a quiet and delightful suburb of Milwaukee. It’s located approximately 10 miles west of downtown―or about a 25 minute drive―making it a desirable place to live and raise a family. Like many American suburbs, it began its life as a primarily agricultural community. The first white settler in the area, William Howe, arrived in 1820. And many followed, especially after the Milwaukee and Mississippi Rail Road first ran through the town in 1850. The train station served as the focal point of the town’s commercial district for the surrounding farms, many of them dairy farms. The proliferation of dairy farming in the area lead to the (somewhat doubtful) claim that in Waukesha County there were more cows than people!
After the Second World War and the baby boom, the tracts of farmland eventually gave way to suburban housing developments. The city we know today started to take shape, now home to the headquarters of companies like Milwaukee Tools and Fiserv. Kohl’s Brookfield is proud to be part of that evolutionary process for the residents of not only Brookfield, but the surrounding communities of Elm Grove, Butler and Wauwatosa. Conveniently located at the intersection of North 124th Street and West North Avenue, Kohl’s Brookfield is easily accessible by car and by the #28 bus. No matter how you get here, however, be sure to visit soon. Kohl’s Brookfield is your home for bargains of clothing, accessories, housewares and more.
