Full Vs. Queen - Does One Size Fit All?
A common question in the world of home bedding is whether a full size comforter will fit on a queen size bed, or vice-versa. While a full size bed has the same length and width regardless of manufacturer or model, a full size comforter does not. Its dimensions vary from brand to brand and sometimes even from style to style. As an example, one brand of full size comforter may measure 84 inches wide and 90 inches long compared to 94 inches wide and 90 inches long for a queen size version. But another brand's comforter may offer 92 inches in width and 90 inches in length for a full size version, compared to 92 inches wide and 106 inches long for the queen model.
A full size mattress has dimensions of 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. Queen size beds are larger in both dimensions at 60 inches wide and 80 inches long. While the difference may not seem like a lot, the wrong sized comforter simply will not look right. While some comforters designed for a full bed may fit on a queen bed, the fit may seem a bit short, especially if you prefer the comforter to hang over the edges of the bed and down its sides.
Down Vs. Down-Alternative Fill
Down-alternative comforters are generally filled with cotton, polyester, or rayon. These materials are meant to mimic the fluffiness and warmth of down, without adding a lot of weight. Down-alternative comforters are generally less expensive than goose down and many people choose them because they are hypoallergenic, compared to a goose down comforter which is not. Also, many down-alternative comforters are machine washable, making them much easier to clean when compared with down comforters that may need to be professionally washed.

The warmth it provides cannot be matched by down-alternative or any other fill material for that matter, and no other material has the warmth-to-weight ratio for which down has been so popular for generations.
